New Campaign Thoughts

As I have said to people I am thinking of starting up a new D20 Future campaign, probably in September, and will be incorporating Battletech rules into it in order to handle robot and vehicle construction and combat in a way that I think is far better than D20 Future or even the D20 Mecha Manual. I will be using the basic Battletech system, which is not too complicated once you learn it.
I have a question however, would people feel better if I convert the Battletech piloting and attack rolls to use D20 mechanics? Battletech already has piloting and gunnery skill numbers that I would base on a characters Base Attack Bonus and Pilot (Mech) skills, but I was wondering if people would prefer me to convert the system to use D20's. I would prefer not to, as I feel that it would create problems with the system and would lengthen game time.

What do you guys think?

In a more general sense, who's interested in the campaign? This would be a sci-fi campaign set in the Commonwealth universe but not in the Commonwealth itself. There will be little to no psionic or magic in the campaign, and few aliens at first. The focus will be on the future humans, unless everyone wants to play a drastically different campaign. For the most part the campaign will focus on humans both as friends and enemies, but this will depend on the character's choices and may change as it goes along. So far for party ideas I have thought of mercenaries, soldiers, pirates, thieves, merchants (if people really want), or hired agents for a certain government.

Please let me know your thoughts and preferences.

I don't really care what system's used, but I'd be interrested in playing

Kyle and I are going to be alternating games. I have 3 ideas of games I want to run.

1. D20 future where the players have crash landed on a strange planet. The game would consist of exploring the planet, in hopes of finding machinery or a way off, that and surviving.

2.D20 future on a desert planet. There are larger cities, but they have a long waiting list for people to enter, so you are in the badlands.

3. D20 modern/past with a Film Noir feel.

So that looks like 3 people for mercs so far, which will be a majority even if the two new guys I've been talking to join. Looks like mercs it is! The question is are you nice mercs or dirty mercs?

Plus, mercs can always be pirates and bandits too...

I'd be up for whatever Steve wants to run, I think they all sound pretty cool.

Dirty mercs tend to be more fun, IMO; gives us more in-character options.

this is the one im gunna do. Basically in the badlands you'll be good or bad. Bad would be you guys as a gang terrorizing the small towns, dealing with scroungers ect.

As good guys you'd be residents of one of these towns defending the town from said gangs and scroungers...ect

Sweet. Either would be good with me; or even somethign in between: moving from town to town trying to get in, and helping out while we're there.

I would be up for that. I've also heard from Greg (1 of the new guys who wants to join our game) and he said he thought doing the Pathfinder game first would be best. I am still waiting to hear from the other one.

I stand by the fact that pathfinder's a great idea.

I'm gunna run hastings every other saturday till Kelsey leaves...and maybe even after she does??

Sounds cool, you up for starting this Saturday? We can get character creation out of the way then.

Also, do you want to keep alternating for Pathfinder or just do it every week until the campaign's over?

Man, I'm really going to miss a party, aren't I? I may not be playing, but Dirty Mercs. sounds cool, along with that desert idea... But when do you guys have bad ideas when starting up games...?

I am putting it up for a vote, since people seem to be in favour of ending the horror campaign (for now) and starting up the mechwarrior one right away. Is that really what people want to do? I will be fine with starting up the new game but I only want to do it if everyone's in agreement.

I is biased cause I is not in horror game. Plz to be telling me when I should be arriving at ur house. Also which house.

An e-mail has been sent to everybody about the meeting on Friday, where we will do character creation and the like.

Greg's back in for saturday, so as before, this saturday, 5:00PM, my house.

Actually, if you guys wanna come at 6 instead, because all we'll be doing is making greg's char. If you want to come at 5 though, feel free.

Perhaps here would be a good place to discuss our new games, since that's what it was designed for.

I know Steve has some ideas and I am considering running my Pathfinder Adventure Paths at some point in the future.
